IEO Program Coordinator, Outreach, Africa
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Program Coordinator, Outreach to join our Africa team within the International Education and Outreach team in a part-time, 20 hours per week position. This role will be instrumental in executing digital and in-person outreach programming across Africa, helping to extend our mission and impact in the region.
To excel as an IEO Program Coordinator, Outreach, Africa at the Pulitzer Center, a candidate would need exceptional relationship-building abilities across diverse cultural contexts, combined with strong project management skills for implementing programs and events throughout Africa. They should demonstrate digital fluency for effective online outreach, excellent storytelling capacity to communicate impact, and the adaptability to navigate complex stakeholder environments while maintaining a collaborative mindset aligned with the organization's distributed leadership approach.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate events in support of the work of the Program Manager, Outreach, Africa
- Research and identify new potential logistical vendors (including event venues, translation services, and other) and programmatic partners (including speakers and audience) to ensure they meet the needs of each event and program.
- Facilitate and maintain relationships with existing internal and external stakeholders and serve as a liaison between the Pulitzer Center and external organizations including vendors.
- Support program activities by preparing relevant documents, including concept notes, terms of reference, event scripts, and calendars.
- Track program results, evaluation metrics, and reporting in alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements
- Draft reports, blogs, updates, and success stories for both internal use and public communication
- Provide liaison support to Communications and Publishing teams to promote events, activities, and impact across our digital platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations or a related field
- Fluent in English and French (required)
- Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable
- Experience planning and coordinating events, both virtual and in-person
- Demonstrated experience in outreach, community engagement, or public relations
- Strong understanding of the media landscape and civil society organizations in Africa
- Experience working with diverse populations and cross-cultural communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing situations
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Compensation
The Center uses an established compensation philosophy in administering compensation. Offers are determined based on candidate qualifications, related experience, internal equity, and the amount budgeted for the position. All non-US salaries are calculated using an international conversion index, which includes estimates for comparable positions in the country of residence and the estimated cost of health insurance. We do offer paid leave benefits which include hours in recognition of local holidays, vacation, sick, parental, and bereavement leave. We do not offer health or retirement benefits for employees outside of the US.
